Serverless architectures allow you to build and run applications and services without thinking about servers. But scaling them requires careful consideration of concurrency, database throughput, and architectural patterns.

When you move from a traditional EC2-based architecture to a serverless one using AWS Lambda and API Gateway, you trade the operational overhead of managing OS patches for the architectural complexity of distributed systems.

The Concurrency Conundrum

One of the most common pitfalls is hitting the concurrency limit. By default, AWS provides a soft limit of 1,000 concurrent executions per region. For high-traffic applications, you must request a quota increase early.

DynamoDB Design Patterns

Single-table design is powerful but complex. Ensure your partition keys are well-distributed to avoid hot partitions.
